Government Relations

Every year AmCham-China organizes an annual Washington, DC, Doorknock delegation of members who travel to the capitol to discuss the state of American business in China. Meetings are held with elected representatives of the Senate and House of Representatives, or their staffs, as well as key officials in the president’s administration.

The annual Doorknock to Washington, DC, is actually the culmination of a series of important initiatives. It starts in about September of each year when AmCham-China kicks off development of the White Paper on the State of American Business in China. For the next eight months AmCham-China members contribute to the White Paper by working on specific chapters through the forums and committees.

AmCham-China Doorknock delegates also bring their own perspectives of doing business in China with them when they meet with policymakers in Washington.  Although many AmCham-China companies have representatives in Washington year-round, only company executives living and working in China participate in the Doorknock. A unique value of the Doorknock is for officials 'inside the beltway' in Washington to hear directly from businesspeople from China. Amcham-China members shake the dust of China off their shoes to walk the marble hallways in Washington and tell the China story.
