Green Dam Escort Policy Statement

On June 30, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced that it will postpone the requirement that all computers sold in China after July 1, 2009 be required to include Green Dam Youth Escort filtering software.

AmCham-China Comment:

AmCham-China welcomes the announcement that the Green Dam Youth Escort software requirement policy will not go into effect on July 1. We believe that this is a positive development, which is consistent with international best practices and is good for Chinese consumers, the government and the business community. We recognize and continue to support the use of effective and responsible parental controls to protect children from inappropriate material on the Internet.

AmCham-China believes that the June 30 announcement is a positive step forward and we look forward to continued dialogue with the government.
