• What is AmCham China?

The American Chamber of Commerce in the People's Republic of China (AmCham China) is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that represents US and other foreign companies and individuals doing business in China. We are the largest Beijing-based foreign business association.

• Who belongs to AmCham China?

We have over 2,600 individual members from over 1,200 companies.

Our members include major multinationals, small and medium-sized enterprises, and individual entrepreneurs. In addition to our Beijing headquarters, we have chapters in Tianjin, Central China (Wuhan) and Dalian.

Advocacy

•      We hold regular meetings with senior and working-level Chinese officials, send delegations to visit Chinese provincial and municipal leaders, and host an annual Appreciation Dinner with Chinese and US officials. 

• We publish two annual reports that guide our advocacy throughout the year: the Business Climate Survey, which provides a snapshot of the business environment as seen by our members, and the White Paper, which offers a detailed assessment of challenges and opportunities across multiple business sectors in China.

•  Each year a group of AmCham China delegates conduct the DC Outreach, traveling to Washington, DC to brief leading US policymakers on the state of business in China.      

Networking

• AmCham China annually organizes over 150 events that feature expert speakers and panels focused on the state of business in China.

• We host more than 30 industry forums and over a dozen committees.

Information and Intelligence

• Our website offers a rich archive of audio and video podcasts with local and visiting China authorities, in-depth reports on topics such as market access in China, and executive summaries of recent events.

• We publish a monthly magazine, a weekly e-newsletter and the daily China Wire, which provides English summaries of business news in the Chinese media.

• We also sponsor US Ambassador briefing sessions.

Business Support

• Our Business Visa program, which operates through a cooperative effort with the US Embassy, helps member companies quickly and conveniently apply for visas for their Chinese staff or business associates.

• How can I become a member of AmCham China?

• Are AmCham China’s activities confined only to Beijing?

AmCham China is headquartered in Beijing, offering access to top Chinese political leadership as well as US Embassy officials. But we also have active chapter offices in Tianjin, Wuhan (Central China) and Dalian, and we conduct regular investment tours to provinces throughout China.
 

• What is AmCham China’s relationship with the US government? Is it part of the US government?

AmCham China is not affiliated with the US government. We are a private, non-partisan, non-profit business association dedicated to improving the business climate in China. Though we work closely with many branches and departments of the US and Chinese governments, we are an independent organization.

• What is AmCham China’s relationship with the US Chamber of Commerce?

AmCham China is a separate, independent organization from the US Chamber of Commerce. However, we are a member of the US Chamber and we cooperate with our counterparts there on key government advocacy issues.
