LSE’s Asia Forum celebrates Asia’s role as the key emerging region of the world, as well as the long and rich relationship that the School enjoys with the continent.

After successfully hosting the previous Asia Forums in Thailand, Hong Kong, India and Singapore, LSE will bring the 5th LSE Asia Forum to Beijing On March 26th, 2010, during what is widely regarded as a period of transition and turbulence for the global economy. Themed China and the world: the Challenges of Change, the forum will examine how best to deal with the challenges of this global transition, with a specific focus on China. 

Chinese Foreign Affairs Minister and LSE alumnus (General Course, 1975) Mr Yang Jiechi has been invited to give the keynote address.

A strong line-up of speakers and panellists will join Peter Sutherland, Chair of Court of Governors at LSE. The confirmed experts include Professor Lord Stern, LSE; Stephen Roach, chairman, Morgan Stanley Asia; Professor Wang Jisi from Peking University and renowned East Asian foreign policy expert Professor Michael Yahuda, who taught at LSE from 1973 to 2003.

The Forum’s agenda will cover:
• The future role of financial markets in creating affluence
• The challenges in developing a healthcare system
• Climate change and economic growth
• China: An Emerging Diplomatic Superpower?

Simultaneous English and Chinese interpretation will be available during the event.
