Preference will be given to candidates with vast experience in the airline industry or those who have been principals in aviation consulting firms. Particular interest exists in those candidates with a proven track record of working with the key aviation constituent organizations in China (CAAC, NDRC, Airlines, the Central Government and Aviation industry leaders) to generate new business on behalf of a U.S.-based company. Other highly desired experience includes: demonstrated experience in the functional areas of operations, strategy development, supply chain management, technical planning and procurement, sales or business development within the following aviation business sectors: Aircraft Spares/Material Management and Logistics, Aircraft Maintenance and Conversions, Flight Operations (including navigation and flight planning), Aviation Information Technology and Software, Pilot or Mechanic Training, Business and General Aviation, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services
General Technical:
1. Business Case Development/Analysis - Evaluate business opportunities (including product/service alternatives, market size, business design approach, fixed and variable costs required, net present value, capital investment decisions, opportunity prioritization, internal company investment) to substantiate pursuit of new business or growth objectives.
2. Customer/Product Knowledge - Develop working knowledge of customer's organization, decision making process, products/services, business plan and business model.
3. Detailed Customer Knowledge - Apply knowledge of customers' business to understand, anticipate and be responsive to customers' needs and design customer solutions
4. Gain Customer Confidence -Apply knowledge of customer environments, culture and subject matter to define new Services opportunities, gain customer's immediate confidence and present a knowledgeable and professional impression during initial phases of customer interface.
5. Perform Competitive Assessment -Evaluate and benchmark competitors' products/services, strategic direction, and core competencies through utilization of industry wide resources to achieve competitive advantage. Develop, maintain, and utilize competitor intelligence, databases and competitor profiles
6. Value Proposition Development -Create, substantiate and secure quantified customer concurrence on value customers will receive by virtue of deploying a CAS product, service or new capability.
7. Perform Market Analysis -Identify market/environment trends to inform the CAS strategic direction and execution plan for acquiring new business.
8. Develop creative, breakthrough business models that enable CAS to profitably deliver value to its customers via its products, services and know-how.
9. Evaluate potential Strategic Alliances or Acquisition targets necessary to achieve strategic business objectives


Education
Bachelor's degree and 20 years' related work experience, a master's degree and a minimum of 15 years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 5+ years of experience in a multinational corporation environment.

Job Description
Commercial Aviation Services (CAS) is endeavoring to expand its profitable business base in China. In an effort to achieve this goal, a Director for Services Strategy and Business Development is being hired to identify, assess, quantify and design lucrative business opportunities that meet Boeing's Services growth objectives and align with the strategic objectives of key constituent organizations that are focused on aviation in China (CAAC, NDRC, Airlines, the Central Government and Aviation industry leaders). The primary measure of success for this position will be the volume of new business generated by this individual on behalf of CAS business units, based in the U.S., but operating in China. Additionally, this leader will have the following responsibilities: 1. Work collaboratively with business leaders from CAS, Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA), Boeing International and key constituent organizations previously mentioned, to understand and document the most attractive Service related needs in China's transportation sector. 2. Create strategies that reflect an accurate knowledge of the business environment in the aviation services marketplace in China 3. Execute a process for developing and acquiring new business reflecting an understanding of customers' strategic direction/intent, buying practices, requirements, operational needs and challenges. 4. Work closely with CAS marketing and sales teams, business unit leaders, program and functional management and customer organizations in order to design business solutions that deliver measurable value to customers, increase sales, increase earnings and gain new business for Boeing. 5. Develop creative, innovative business models and approaches that result in the capture of new business for Boeing. 6. Analyze market and competitor information and develop business plans and business cases to substantiate entering attractive markets. 7. Initiate investigative efforts with customers to thoroughly understand their business and provide them with innovative/breakthrough solutions that improve their efficiency. Other duties and responsibilities are assigned by management.
