Company Info The US-China Business Council seeks a manager for the organization’s Business Advisory Services
department (BAS) in Shanghai, China. BAS is the research and advisory arm of USCBC and the direct liaison with USCBC member companies. The Shanghai office of the USCBC is currently seeking a Business Advisory Services Manager.

Founded in 1973, USCBC (www.uschina.org) is a private, non-profit, non-partisan, member-supported organization and the leading organization of US companies engaged in business with the People's Republic of China. Through close collaboration among offices in Washington, DC, Beijing and Shanghai, USCBC provides extensive China-focused information, advisory, and advocacy services, along with events, to more than 250 US corporations operating within the United States and throughout Asia.

Required Skills
Qualifications:
• Strong China background; with at least 2 years of work experience in the PRC
• Undergraduate degree in applicable field (business, law, public policy/political science, etc.); graduate degree preferred
• High level of proficiency in Mandarin (spoken and written) required – candidates must be able to read and analyze Chinese policy documents, regulations and newspaper articles
• Proven writing, analytical, and communication skills in English
• Demonstrated leadership and excellent people skills
• Able to structure and lead/execute projects on short notice, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Ability to show significant initiative and judgment, and to complete complex tasks with minimal guidance
Job Description
Terms: The position is full-time. Starting salary is dependent on experience. Benefits include health insurance on a cost-shared basis, company-funded disability and life insurance, 3 weeks vacation, sick leave, and SEP IRA retirement plan (effective after 12 months of employment). Starting date is Summer 2009.

Responsibilities:
• Primary point of contact for member company business inquiries, including operational and policy/regulatory issues
• Research, analyze, and write on China business issues and related developments
• Develop and manage sector- and issue-specific expertise and contacts
• Write regularly for USCBC publications
• Assist in developing USCBC advocacy positions
• Coordinate and participate in USCBC programs and member company business briefings
• Represent the USCBC at conferences and external events, including meetings with member companies and events with PRC and US government officials
• Proactively assist with member recruitment and retention
• Directly manage Shanghai internship program
• Other responsibilities as required
