Jonathan Elkind, Assistant Secretary for the Office of International Affairs with the U.S. Department of Energy, shared his thoughts on the Paris Climate Conference with an audience of business leaders in Beijing on Monday, Jan. 25.

He noted that the commitments of the Paris Climate Conference should be achieved by both bilateral efforts and multilateral efforts like the “Clean Energy Ministerial,” which has more than 20 participating countries. He also pointed out that China and the US should further expand their cooperation, from government bodies to private enterprises, and both countries should take action to honor their Paris commitments.

Elkind spoke as part of the “Center for China and Globalization Round-Table Discussion: US-China Relations, Leadership and Collaboration on Energy and Climate.” The event, co-organized by the Center and AmCham China, created a platform for sharing the experiences from the US on energy conservation and climate change. Seven representatives from AmCham China attended the discussion.
