Last Friday, more than 40 members of the foreign business community gathered in the historic Astor Hotel to hear the results of this year’s AmCham China Business Climate Survey. The survey is one of the most studied documents for governments to understand the challenges foreign companies face when operating in China, as well as an essential planning tool for American companies here. This is the 19th year the chamber has conducted the survey, and the third in cooperation with Bain & Company.

Presenting the results at the breakfast meeting were AmCham China Chairman William Zarit and Bain & Company Principal Yin Chen, who took questions from attendees after the presentations. Joining the event were several members from the Executive Committee of AmCham China’s Tianjin Chapter, plus senior members of the Korean and European Union chambers in Tianjin.

The response rate among AmCham China’s Tianjin members was an above-average 57 percent, and the Tianjin-specific results will be published soon in the White Paper.
