My work in China for US-based multinational companies spans 4 decades and includes managing 9 companies throughout China. Each company maintains a strong financial, operational, regulatory and security record, as well as good ties within the communities they are located. I have supported AmCham China’s growth and service to the AmCham community, including through providing seminars, trainings, and serving on the safety committee. I am from Oklahoma and I maintain a foot in each country, supporting university student exchange programs. I earned a Master of Science in Engineering and a Doctorate in Management. In addition to my formal professional education, I have led a life of learning “on the job” in complex and uncertain situations, as I navigated doing business in China. I put that knowledge into writing a book, Doing Business in China, to help others enter the China market. With recent challenges from the global pandemic, I have been vocal in my support to do more to help members of the AmCham community navigate the complex and, sometimes, uncertain, regulations to stay in compliance with safety requirements. That effort includes my actions to support safety by providing seminars on industrial and office safety.
