AmCham Northeast Chapter was honored to welcome Alan Beebe, president of AmCham China, to present the results of AmCham’s 2018 Business Climate Survey. The two events, held in Dalian on March 15 and Shenyang on March 16, attracted over 80 leaders from various industries and government agencies. In Dalian, Beebe fielded many questions not only on the current business climate in China but also bilateral trade policies between the US and China, including the new administration’s proposed tariffs and other trade policy changes. Beebe reminded attendees that AmCham continues to serve as the only official NGO responsible for promoting American businesses' interests in China, and is committed to promoting fair and mutually beneficial relations between the American and Chinese business communities.

In Shenyang, AmCham was honored to host numerous high-profile guests. Alongside, Beebe was Gregory May, consul general for the US, and Marc Lamy, consul general of France, as well as their respective consulate staff. These foreign officials were joined by representatives from the Liaoning Commerce Department, the Shenyang Foreign Trade and Foreign Affairs Offices. At this event, Beebe stressed again the importance of a level playing field for bilateral trade. Chris Smith, chairman of AmCham Northeast, said of the evening, “This event, with the presentation of the Business Climate Survey results and analysis, was a prime example of AmCham’s mission in action; a mission which includes government advocacy, information sharing, and networking.  It was quite positive to see such a large turnout for this event.”

The Business Climate Survey public meetings are one of the largest and most important annual events held by AmCham. Government and industry leaders gather to review important data provided by member companies about the current state of business in China. At these public meetings, senior AmCham representatives are on hand to provide insight and analysis of trends and projections for the coming year.
