IP Experts Share Insights with Business Operators

While agreeing intellectual property rights enforcement still lags, the basic message at Thursday's event was that China's approach to intellectual property issues has come a long way.

Co-chair of the IPR Forum Scott Palmer moderated a panel of experts: Iris Chao form Johnson & Johnson, Mathew Alderson from Harris Moure PLLC and He Jing from AnJie Law Firm. Chao detailed the importance of companies registering trademarks in China and what could be trademarked. Speaking on trade secrets, He commented on the difficulties within the Chinese legal system of proving trade secret theft. Thus, companies operating in China should maintain the same practices as in the US regarding trademark and patent registering.
