AmCham-China, in partnership with the US-China Clean Energy Forum and in cooperation with the US-China Business Council and AmCham Shanghai, is pleased to present a timely program on Sino-American clean energy cooperation.

This exclusive event will feature the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi and Sen. John Kerry, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee. In addition, a delgation of six members of Congress will be present to discuss climate and environment issues. Space is limited, so we encourage you to register early to avoid dissapointment.

Together, China and the US account for nearly 50 percent of global energy demand and create a similar percentage of greenhouse gas emissions. Although clean technology can help meet energy demands while reducing environmental impact in both China and the US, market availability can be stymied by tariffs, export regulations, intellectual property issues and financing hurdles. The key to driving the clean energy market forward lies in pooling our talents, resources and market power.

For more than a year, the US-China Clean Energy Forum (www.cleanenergyforum.org), spearheaded by senior leaders from the US and China’s National Development and Reform Commission, has been working to identify common interests and to chart a path toward a dramatic program of cooperation on efficiency and clean energy.

This half-day symposium and dinner banquet will examine the eight bold initiatives identified by joint working groups over the past year. These initiatives focus on eliminating barriers and developing transformational energy projects so future energy use can be more efficient with lower carbon emissions. Read the full descriptions of the initiatives here.

This event will feature speakers from both China and the US and the program will allow for commentary by a wide range of experts from business, government, NGOs and academia. Simultaneous translation will be provided.
