AmCham China is pleased to announce that Alvin Liu has been elected as Chair of the Board of Governors for 2025, while Su Cheng Harris-Simpson, Min Qin, and Travis Tanner have been elected as Vice Chairs. All three will serve one-year terms, commencing January 1, 2025. As per the Constitution, the three Officers were elected by the full 2025 Board of Governors, a list of whom can be found here.

Alvin Q. Liu was named president of Boeing China in September 2023. He serves as Boeing’s senior in-country executive, leading company-wide activities and supporting the development and implementation of Boeing’s China strategy. Alvin is also responsible for leading government and community engagement, supporting new business and industrial partnerships, and expanding Boeing’s relationships with stakeholders in China. Alvin joined Boeing in 2022 as executive vice president of Government Operations, Boeing China and was responsible for building and strengthening partnerships with government stakeholders in China.
Previously, Alvin had two decades of senior leadership experience with Ford Motor Company, serving as vice chairman of the company’s Greater China Operations and vice president of Ford International Market Group.
Alvin earned his master’s degree in International Relations and his Juris Doctor (JD) from Marquette University in the United States.
Su Cheng Harris-Simpson is the Founder and President of the Women Empowerment Council (WEC), a social enterprise that works with an engaged network of leaders and decision-makers from leading MNCs in China to advance gender equality in businesses in China and beyond. Prior to WEC, Su Cheng also founded and ran a thriving strategy consulting and communications company, SCHSAsia, for over ten years. Over the past three decades, Su Cheng has built a celebrated reputation as a tenacious and visionary woman leader and entrepreneur. She has been actively involved in the Beijing business community for over 25 years, managing projects and serving the needs for several destinations, not-for- profit organizations, community organizations, and bilateral associations in the areas of strategic event management, fundraising, public and media relations, promotion and marketing.
Before becoming an entrepreneur, she held several management positions in the corporate arena, having worked as a Buyer and Requirements Specialist for the Boeing Company, a Corporate Projects Manager at United Technology Cooperation (UTC), and the Marketing Director at the Capital Club in Beijing. A Seattle native, Su Cheng was born in Taiwan and raised in Seattle, Washington. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington. Su Cheng also holds an MBA with emphasis on Marketing and International Business from Seattle Pacific University.
Min Qin is Vice President for Public Affairs of Mars China. She joined Mars in 2018 and leads Mars’ efforts to build and grow strategic partnerships with key public stakeholders at both central and local levels, conduct policy advocacy in key categories Mars operates in, formulate public affairs strategies, and protect and promote Mars’ corporate reputation. Min started her career with the public sector and then worked with McKinsey and Fonterra, building and leading their external affairs function in Greater China.
Min is married with one daughter and has a border collie puppy. She loves reading, painting, gardening, and cycling.
Travis N. Tanner is the Beijing-based President of GreenPoint Group, an Ankura company, a US-China strategic advisory firm with offices in Beijing and Washington DC with over 2,000 colleagues in partner offices across 70+ countries, as part of Ankura Consulting Group. With 25 years of experience in US-China relations, including 13 years living in China, Travis assists clients based on over two decades of experience briefing policymakers, conducting research and analysis, directing programs, and building bridges between Chinese and US government, corporate, academic, and non-profit communities.
Previously Travis served as President of the US-China Strong Foundation, an offshoot of the Obama administration’s “100,000 Strong Initiative,” a public-private partnership designed to equip the future generation of leaders with the knowledge and skills to engage productively with China. Travis established and directed the Foundation’s operations in China and drove engagement with key stakeholders and partners including Chinese and US government officials, business leaders, academic institutions, media outlets, philanthropists, and students. He has also worked at The National Bureau of Asian Research (NBR) and the Center for the National Interest (formerly the Nixon Center) in Washington, DC.
Travis received his MA in International Relations from the Johns Hopkins University – SAIS and the Hopkins-Nanjing Center and his BA in Chinese language and literature from the University of Utah. He is Senior Advisor to NBR, a Tsinghua University Schwarzman College Industry Mentor, and member of the National Committee on US-China Relations. Travis is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and Portuguese. He and his wife, Amy, and two of their four children, Josephine and Vivian, enjoy living in Beijing.
