Hart also had a brief exchange with Liang Geliang, a participant in the 1971 Ping-Pong Diplomacy, which paved the way for President Richard Nixon’s 1972 visit to Beijing and a subsequent warming of US-China ties. As one of the original players from the meeting 55 years ago, Liang personally witnessed the historic moment when “the little ball moved the big ball.”
The commemoration provided a valuable opportunity to further people-to-people exchanges between the United States and China. AmCham China will continue to carry forward the spirit of “Ping-Pong Diplomacy,” serving as a bridge to support exchanges and cooperation across various fields between the two countries.
