On December 15, AmCham China President Michael Hart and Vice President Claire Ma led a delegation of member companies to Shandong province. Together with the Shandong Provincial Department of Commerce, AmCham China co-hosted the “Shandong–Multinational Company Cooperation Roundtable: Biopharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Session”. More than 20 foreign-invested healthcare companies participated in the meeting.

Song Junji, Vice Governor of Shandong province, also attended the event and delivered remarks. The meeting was hosted by Cui Hongguang, Deputy Director General of the Shandong Provincial Department of Commerce. Representatives from the provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, Health Commission, Healthcare Security Administration, and Medical Products Administration introduced Shandong’s industrial development and supporting policies. Representatives from the cities of Jinan, Zibo, and Yantai also gave industry promotion presentations.

In his remarks, Hart noted that Shandong, as a major eastern economic province and a key destination for foreign investment, has a strong foundation and broad potential for development and innovation in the healthcare sector. AmCham China places great importance on its engagement with Shandong province and looks forward to using this roundtable as an opportunity to further deepen practical cooperation in healthcare and related fields.

For her part, Ma highlighted the long-standing, pragmatic, and stable cooperative relationship that AmCham China has maintained with Shandong province. Over the years, member companies have carried out comprehensive cooperation across multiple areas of the healthcare industry in various parts of Shandong with favorable results. Building on this foundation, the Chamber aims to further strengthen communication and coordination with the province to support the high-quality development of Shandong’s healthcare industry.

Vice Governor Song Junji emphasized that Shandong has built a solid foundation and sees promising prospects for cooperation between its pharmaceutical industry and multinational companies. He stated that the province will continue to foster a market-oriented, law-based, and internationalized business environment and provide high-quality services to support the development of multinational companies in Shandong.

Following the meeting and reception, Hart presented Vice Governor Song with the 2025 American Business in China White Paper (White Paper).

On December 16, Hart led the delegation of member company representatives to the Jinan Medical Center for a site visit and exchange. Discussions focused on the development of the healthcare industry with relevant departments and institutions from Shandong province and Jinan city. The delegation also visited the Jinan Medical Center exhibition hall, the Proton Clinical Center of Shandong Cancer Hospital, and the North Center of National Health and Medical Big Data, gaining a comprehensive understanding of Shandong’s overall layout in medical research, healthcare data application, and industrial collaboration.

At the Precision Medicine Industrial Park, the delegation toured the exhibition hall and joined a roundtable discussion. Representatives from the Jinan International Medical Center Administrative Committee introduced the center’s development progress and industrial environment. The discussion highlighted the Jinan Medical Center’s solid foundation in industrial planning and its favorable business environment, as well as AmCham China’s willingness to continue serving as a bridge to advance practical cooperation in Shandong.
