From October 27 to 30, the 2025 Financial Street Forum took place in Beijing. With the theme “Global Financial Development in an Era of Innovation, Transformation, and Restructuring,” this year’s forum attracted over 400 guests from more than 30 countries. He Lifeng, Vice Premier of China’s State Council, attended and delivered remarks at the opening ceremony, where AmCham China President Michael Hart was also in attendance and gave remarks at the Forum’s “Entrepreneurs’ Roundtable”.
On October 28, Hart joined the forum’s “Entrepreneurs’ Roundtable” to give a keynote address. Centered on the theme, “Building a Shared Ecosystem: Deepening Global Collaboration in the Financial and Sci-Tech Innovation Industries for Synergistic Development,” the roundtable brought together entrepreneurs, financiers, experts, scholars, and government officials from over 10 countries. In his speech, Hart reiterated that cooperation remains a crucial force driving global innovation and economic development. He pointed out that American companies in China highly value stable and constructive US-China relations. Citing findings from AmCham China’s 2025 China Business Climate Survey (BCS) Report, he added that while geopolitical tensions and regulatory uncertainty continue to pose challenges, 87% of member companies believe that constructive US-China relations are essential to their success in China.
Hart noted that cooperation in areas such as the financial services sector, scientific and technological innovation, and the digital and data economy continues to make positive progress. From green finance products and the facilitation of cross-border investment channels to advances in life sciences, clean energy, and artificial intelligence, he said the immense potential brought by open cooperation is clear. He also called for continued efforts to promote greater market access, stronger intellectual property protection, and a more predictable and transparent regulatory environment, explaining that these elements form the foundation of mutual trust and innovation. In closing his remarks, Hart reaffirmed AmCham China’s commitment to fostering dialogue, promoting fair competition, and helping both countries manage frictions while pursuing mutual growth. He stressed joint innovation and sustainable growth will benefit not only the United States and China but also the broader global community.
