My Unique Values to the Role of Board of Governor
With over 23 years of government affairs and public affairs experiences in diversified industries and strong government connections at central and local levels, and as a passionate AmCham member, as well as an insights-driven professional, I plan to take the following actions to help solidify AmCham’s image and reputation as an influential chamber in front of Chinese government, think tank and industry stakeholders:
- Government stakeholders: to complement AmCham’s institutional engagement with central and local government authorities, by creating small-scaled engagement opportunities with government officials tailored to AmCham’s interests
- Think tanks: to enhance AmCham’s interactions with China’s prestigious think tanks, through meetings, policy briefings and researches, for the purpose of better understanding about China’s policy rationale, delivering AmCham members’ comments and suggestions and shaping the policy proposals to China’s policy makers
- AmCham members: to organize insights and knowledge sharing sessions with AmCham members, by inviting external speakers to talk about China’s regulatory and industry trends at both national and local levels
Biography
Jerry Guo joined KKR in early 2022. Based in Beijing, he is a Managing Director in Public Policy & Affairs for China. In this role, he focuses on overseeing the development of public policy and government engagement priorities for the firm’s business in China, cultivating relationships with a broad spectrum of government, think tank and industry association stakeholders and helping business access to government and industry partners.
Jerry has over 23 years of experiences in government engagement, policy analysis, strategy development, issue and crisis management and corporate social responsibility, across diversified industries of semiconductor, financial service, software and public affairs consulting. Jerry joins KKR from Qualcomm where he was the VP of Government Affairs for China during 2016-2022, leading a group of government affairs professionals to focus on developing China’s government affairs strategy and execution plan, cultivating business opportunities and addressing business challenges through proactive government and industry engagement, firming the company’s positive image and reputation in China through corporate social responsibility programs and tracking China’s policy developments and dynamics of the U.S.-China economic and trade relations. Prior to that, Jerry also worked at Goldman Sachs (2014-2016), TPG Capital (2011-2014), Novartis (2009-2011), Oracle (2005- 2009), Microsoft (2003-2005) and APCO Worldwide (1999-2003) in senior government and public affairs roles.
