Facebook is seeking a Public Policy Manager for the Greater China Region. This role will primarily focus on policy research and analysis to help the company to learn more about the vast and diverse region. She or he will also expect to support the company’s interactions with different types of external stakeholders, such as policymakers, non-government organizations (NGOs), and industry groups, to help them understand how Facebook can best serve local communities and businesses.

 

This is a permanent, full-time position and is based in our Hong Kong office.

 

This role will report to the Director of Public Policy for Greater China.

 

Public Policy Manager, Greater China

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and understand the fast-changing policy landscape in the vast and diverse region and work with internal cross-functional teams, including Legal and Corporate Communications, to provide timely analysis and assessment on relevant policy issues
  • Develop and maintain strong and trusted relationships with various types of external stakeholders, including policymakers, academia, NGOs, and industry groups to advance policy goals of Facebook
  • Manage external policy consultants and support long-term projects
  • Coordinate with other team members to ensure a consistent approach to stakeholder engagement, and manage engagement planning and process for various stakeholder events
  • Represent Facebook in meetings with government officials or at public events when there is a business need

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or above
  • 7 years or longer experience working in media, politics, government, NGOs, think-tanks, or public policy related fields
  • Ability to speak and write in English and Chinese fluently due to the need to engage with external regulators and other organisations.
  • Experience in Internet related technologies and the policy environments that surround them with a passionate belief in the social and economic impact of the Internet and Facebook in particular
  • Knowledge of the tech sector or the key issues impacting the internet (e.g., data privacy, online safety, digital economy, role of social media)
  • Ability to take initiative, adapt quickly to changing priorities, and work with a high sense of urgency across a variety of matters and regions
  • Effective team player with drive and determination
