Women Empowerment Council

The Women Empowerment Council, initiated by SCHSAsia and AmCham China, is an engaged network of leaders and decision-makers that aims to advance gender equality in businesses in China and beyond. Members are multinational companies who understand that gender equality, sustainable development, and business success are inextricably linked. With WEC’s goal to be the collective thought leader on women empowerment, our team executes meetings, events, and projects that enable us to share best practices, close gender gaps, and move the needle.

The Women Empowerment Council is seeking a person who is passionate about women empowerment and thrives in a start-up work environment. The Project & Event Manager should be capable of leading projects, managing events, strengthening client relations, and applying strategic thinking to decision-making. The ideal candidate has an entrepreneurial mindset, is bilingual and customer-service oriented, with strong organization and time management skills.

  • Lead or support projects: Girls in STEMM, Group Coaching, Leadership Development Program
  • Manage overall process of the Women Empowerment Awards in China: drive nominations, coordinate with judges to evaluate nominees, manage logistics, venue, and programming
  • Manage and support ongoing events: Member-Hosted Events, Strategic Partner Events, Quarterly Executive Meetings, Executive and Women’s Leadership Roundtables
  • Liaise and work with WEC team and client to coordinate events and program logistics, e.g. venue, invitations, equipment, etc. to ensure smooth and seamless flow
  • Work with team to successfully run 6th annual Women’s Economy Summit: coordinate and manage logistics, venue, promotion
  • Contribute to WEC marketing, social media, and media strategy and execution as required
  • Strengthen client relations (member companies)
  • Support research and consulting projects as needed


  • Bachelors degree
  • 2+ years of project and event management experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills


  • Experience working with corporate clients
  • Entrepreneurial mindset
  • Bilingual Native English speaker
