The American Chamber has a longstanding connection with Tianjin, which hosts one of our chapter offices, so it was with great sadness we learned of last week’s tragedy. Some of our members were directly affected by the explosions, and others have been contributing to the recovery efforts. While our hearts go out to the families of those who lost their lives, we remain confident that Tianjin will rebuild and recover from this disaster. In a survey last year, three-quarters of our members reported satisfaction with the Tianjin government’s support for foreign business and we anticipate that the Tianjin authorities will maintain this track record, rapidly and transparently complete their assessments and investigations, rebuild the Tianjin port and brand, and restore trust in the city as a great place to do business. We will continue to monitor the situation in Tianjin on behalf of our members.
