On Wednesday, March 4 the Southwest Chapter hosted an International Women’s Day event in Chengdu at ICC Club Managed by TEC. Organized jointly by AmCham China Southwest Chapter, the British Chamber of Commerce Southwest China, the China-Australia Chamber of Commerce West China, and the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce, the event was titled “Her Energy: From Reflection to Release.” It brought together women from a wide range of fields to share experiences, exchange ideas, and celebrate International Women’s Day.
Guests from different sectors were invited to join the conversation and share their perspectives on personal growth, leadership, and well-being balancing both life and work. Speakers included Meaghan Shaw, Consul-General of the Australian Consulate-General in Chengdu; Dinah Yaqub, Trade and Investment Consul at the British Consulate-General in Chongqing; Dr. Clare McDermott, Director of QSI International School of Chengdu; and Chiara Cichellero, Consular Officer of the Consulate General of Italy in Chongqing.
The panel discussion was organized around three themes: The Source of Inner Energy, Transforming Energy in Self-Development and Roles, and Radiating Energy. During the conversation, panelists shared their thoughts on where their motivation comes from, how cultural values shape their work in international roles, how personal strengths can support leadership, how to manage mental and emotional well-being under pressure, and what skills young women need to succeed on the global stage.
