On March 5, the AmCham China Southwest Chapter hoste co-hosted the “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress” event to celebrate International Women’s Day with the British Chamber of Commerce Southwest China and the European Chamber of Commerce Southwest China at The ICC Club managed by TEC.
The event commenced with an introduction by the host, Raquel Ramirez Alexander, followed by opening speeches delivered by three outstanding female leaders representing each Chamber: Wei Wei, the Chapter Manager from AmCham China Southwest Chapter; Mavis Yang, the Managing Director from British Chamber of Commerce Southwest China; and Sally Huang, the General Manager from European Chamber of Commerce Southwest China. The speeches were followed by a workshop on Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace comprising presentations, discussions, sharing sessions, and a quiz.
Subsequently, the speakers were invited to an Executive Roundtable moderated by the host and facilitated by the Women Empowerment Council, where they shared their insights and experiences concerning women in their respective fields of expertise. They also engaged in a brief Q&A session.
Event speakers included:
- Su Cheng Harris-Simpson, the Founder and President of the Women Empowerment Council.
- Adelle Neary, the Consul-General at the Australian Consulate-General Chengdu.
- Sherry Fu, the Director of The University of Manchester China Centre.
- Antonia Coppey, an Instructor and former airline pilot with experience in United Nations peacekeeping missions.
- Praveen Bezawada, the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Freyr Solutions.
- Poh Yian Koh, the China Vice President and Head of Strategic Programs for Asia Pacific and the Middle East at FedEx Express.
