Upon arrival, the group was welcomed by Anna E, Director of Government Affairs at Mars. Attendees were led a guided tour through the Center’s world-class microbiology and analytical laboratories, offering participants a firsthand look at how Mars leverages technology and science to ensure global food safety and support innovation in their supply chain operations.
The visit continued with two keynote presentations. Boris Bolshchikov, Head of Food Safety Science at Mars, introduced the company’s global footprint and its collaborative approach to resilient supply chains. He emphasized the role of Mars GFSC as a knowledge hub, engaging with external partners and using AI-driven analytics and scientific research to address today’s most pressing food safety challenges.
Lili Yu, Senior Director of Supplier Quality Management at Mars Wrigley China, highlighted how Mars supports its suppliers through predictive quality systems, capability-building programs, and a culture of continuous improvement. Her presentation showcased Mars’ structured training platforms and tools that help suppliers meet high standards and thrive alongside the company.
David Song, Co-Chair of AmCham China’s Manufacturing, Sourcing, Supply Chain, and Customs (MSSC) Committee and Director of Supply Chain Strategy & Transformation at Cummins China, offered closing remarks. He thanked Mars for its hospitality and applauded the Navigator cohort for their engagement. He underscored the importance of such industry visits in broadening professional insights and encouraging deeper dialogue across the supply chain community.
As part of the day’s discussion, Mars leaders also shared the company’s guiding framework for supply chain excellence—summarized by the “Four Cs”: Capability, Collaboration, Communication, and Culture—a model that reflects Mars’ holistic and forward-thinking approach to partnership and performance.
