On April 28, AmCham China hosted its 2026 Dialogue with the Tianjin Municipal People’s Government and Reception under the theme “Uniting Strengths for a Shared Future in Tianjin.”
The event opened with a dialogue between AmCham China Tianjin member representatives and the Tianjin Municipal Government. AmCham China Chairman James Zimmerman, who played a key role in integrating the Tianjin Chapter into AmCham China and has since watched it thrive, thanked the Tianjin government for its long-standing support and presented the 2026 American Business in China White Paper. AmCham China President Michael Hart expressed appreciation for Tianjin’s steady improvements to its business environment. AmCham China Tianjin Chair Marcus Williams noted that ongoing government engagement has improved policy clarity, lending cautious optimism heading into 2026. Member representatives then discussed investment opportunities in Tianjin and put forward recommendations for the city’s continued development. In response, Executive Vice Mayor of the Tianjin Municipal People’s Government Wang Xu welcomed the collaboration and outlined Tianjin’s key priorities: advancing Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei integration, building a modern industrial system, strengthening industrial chains and clusters, and improving services and gateway functions.
The evening’s reception was hosted by Tianjin Chair Marcus Williams. Chairman James Zimmerman and Liu Xinguo, Deputy Director General of the Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Commerce, each delivered keynote remarks. Nearly 200 attendees — including heads of 14 commissions and bureaus, member company representatives, and business leaders — gathered to explore future cooperation.
The Tianjin Chapter will continue to bring together government and business to drive sustainable economic growth and support our members’ continued success in Tianjin. AmCham China extends its sincere thanks to all sponsors for their generous support.
