On April 28, AmCham China’s Education Committee hosted Get Ready to Study in the US Today in Beijing, bringing together government, academic, and industry experts to share insights on US visa policies, emerging education trends, and student preparation.
The event featured opening insights from Perry Landesberg, Vice Consul at the US Embassy in Beijing, who provided the latest updates on US visa policies and key considerations for applicants.
Additional perspectives were shared by Dr. Chris Oniya, Professor and Lecturer at the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE); Mary Chan, Partner and Clinical Mental Health Counsellor at Cognitive Assurance Life Management (CALM) International Pte. Ltd.; and Jingyu Wang, Executive Director of Notre Dame Beijing, University of Notre Dame. Speakers highlighted evolving study trends, student well-being, and the importance of preparing academically and culturally for studying abroad.
The panel discussion brought together cross-sector expertise, including Katie Beck, Head of External Relations at Western Academy of Beijing; Stephanie Tong, General Sales Manager, North China at United Airlines; and Claudia Cheng, Head of Technology at Ivy Global Scholars. Panelists discussed opportunities and risks in US education, offering practical strategies for students and families navigating an increasingly complex global environment.
