From April 11 to 12, the 2026 National Conference on Promoting Experience in Deepening Healthcare Reform, alongside the China Health Development Conference, was held in Guangzhou. As part of the broader conference agenda, AmCham China served as a supporting organization for the sub-session on “Improving Rare Disease Diagnosis, Treatment, and Protection Systems.”

AmCham China Vice President Claire Ma attended the session and spoke during the roundtable discussion. The discussion focused on key topics including the development of rare disease diagnosis and treatment systems and mechanisms for ensuring access to medication. Participants included representatives from national and local health authorities, healthcare security agencies, as well as clinical and academic institutions. Together, they explored pathways and future directions for strengthening rare disease support systems.

During the discussion, Ma drew on the practical experience of foreign-invested healthcare companies operating in China, offering recommendations focused on improving the accessibility and affordability of rare disease treatments. She noted that AmCham China will continue to serve as a platform to promote communication and collaboration between government and industry, with the goal of helping innovative rare disease therapies better reach and benefit patients in China.
