Industry Roundtable with FDA at the US Embassy in Beijing

The morning and afternoon sessions were attended by Michael Hart, President of AmCham China; Claire Ma, Vice President of AmCham China; Andi Lipstein Fristedt, Deputy Commissioner for Policy, Legislation, and International Affairs at the FDA; Mark Abdoo, Associate Commissioner for Global Policy and Strategy at the US Food and Drug Administration; as well as officials from the US Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Commerce, the Office of the United States Trade Representative, and the Office of Environmental Science, Technology and Health.

The Healthcare Industry Meeting, hosted by Edward Wang, Director of the AmCham China Healthcare Industry Group, was attended by representatives from fifteen global companies in China, including United Family Health, Johnson & Johnson, Edwards Lifesciences, Becton Dickinson, Boston Scientific, Amgen, GSK, Sanofi, Roche, a Global Law Firm, and CEC Capital.

The objective of the meeting was to foster meaningful communication between Chamber member companies and FDA officials. Representatives from the Chamber’s member companies presented the challenges they face regarding product registration applications in both China and the US, and the government officials responded by addressing the relevant policies and regulations. Following the discussions, AmCham China President Michael Hart presented the “2023 American Business in China Healthcare Industry White Paper” to the FDA, aiming to provide them with a better understanding of the healthcare-related policies and measures implemented in China and their impact on foreign companies operating there. AmCham China looks forward to continuing to facilitate more exchanges in the future, fostering opportunities and mutual development for multinational healthcare companies and markets.
