Campaign Statement
I have served on the Board during the past year and would be honored to again serve the American Community on the Board with a renewed focus on what matters to individual members, start-ups and small companies. Not only will this make these American businesses stronger, but will strengthen the entire American business community and energize AmCham with new, vibrant, entrepreneurial members.
I recently left a large firm to start my own business, a media company producing family friendly, feature length animated movies. This experience has provided me insights into what a large part of the American business community needs from an organization such as AmCham. And having been part of the AmCham community for 18 years, I understand what it is able to deliver. To do this, I think that:
- AmCham needs to rationalize and lower its membership fees to make it easier for younger or independent members and start-up companies to join, contribute to and benefit from our American business community.
- AmCham needs to provide more information and programs that are geared to help smaller businesses navigate the very different and challenging business landscape in China.
- AmCham needs to make its resources more readily available to our members without having to wrestle Beijing’s traffic to travel to AmCham’s sole physical presence.
I have worked in China for more than 20 years and have an MBA and degrees in law and engineering. I have lived in Beijing for the past 18 years with my wife where we have raised three children.

Biography
Jon Christianson is the co-founder of 3QU Media, a start-up that produces family friendly, feature length, animated movies for global audiences. It will be releasing its first two movies in theaters around the world early next year. Until earlier this year, he had been a senior partner in the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.
He was named by the American Lawyer in 2006 as a “Deal Maker of the Year” for his work on bringing the first of China’s large state-owned banks to the global markets. Mr. Christianson also worked on such landmark transactions as the first listing in 1991 of B Shares in China, the first listing in 1993 of a Chinese Company on the New York Stock Exchange, in 1994 China’s first sovereign debt offering into the US public capital markets since 1949 and in 2006 China’s sovereign wealth fund in its first overseas investment. He has been actively involved in outbound and inbound M&A, joint ventures and financing transactions involving China and other Asian countries since the late 1980s.
He and his wife, Wei, have lived in Beijing since 1999 where they have raised their three sons. He holds a B.S. in engineering and J.D. and M.B.A degrees.
