On Friday, April 16th, AmCham China Tianjin was pleased to have Jackie Zhang, Partner at Gaopeng & Partners, share her insights on the implications of the Civil Code of the People’s Republic of China for women professionals at the Women’s Professional Committee (WPC) Tianjin Luncheon at the Shangri-la Hotel in Tianjin.
The Civil Code, which came into effect at the beginning of 2021, presents significant implications on people’s daily lives. Equipped with decades of experience as a legal practitioner, Jackie Zhang clarified misinterpretations and confusion regarding several important aspects of the code, including inheritance, debt co-signing, and the cooling-off period before divorce. Jackie supplemented her presentation with engaging real-world cases and hypothetic scenarios, further facilitating the audience’s understanding of the Civil Code.
