January 10, 2018, Beijing – The American Chamber of Commerce in China (AmCham China) and the China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC) agreed a memorandum of understanding Jan. 9 to recognize their shared commitment to friendly and cooperative relations. 

The memorandum is a formal document that strengthens collaboration through trade and investment promotion, facilitating information sharing, setting up dialogue mechanisms, and encouraging business exchange visits. AmCham China and CCOIC will also support each other on economic and trade research, events and training collaboration, and commercial legal services.

William Zarit, Chairman of AmCham China, and Yin Zonghua, Vice Chairman of CCOIC, signed the memorandum in Beijing. “Commercial cooperation between the two countries is mutually beneficial,” Zarit said. “CCOIC and AmCham China have made significant individual contributions toward this cooperation, and working together we can positively move the needle on U.S.-China economic relations.”

Yin extended his appreciation to both sides for their effort and support in reaching the agreement. He said both chambers are the voice of business from China and the U.S. respectively, and the economic and trade relations between the two nations serves as the ballast to safeguard the stability of the bilateral relations. The memorandum is intended to encourage information sharing between the two organizations to boost the trade and investment between the two nations. Yin expected that the collaboration will be deepened and expanded in the future and to further build the bilateral economic relations.

AmCham China Vice President of Government Affairs Liu Yang, Deputy Director of the Department of International Affairs of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Yu Jianwei, and CCOIC Deputy Director of the Department of Cooperation and Development Wu Meng also attended the meeting.
