AmCham China came away a winner at this year’s Public Affairs Asia Gold Standard Awards for a campaign around China’s cybersecurity legislation

December 1, 2017 – AmCham China has won the Public Affairs Asia Gold Standard Award 2017 for Integrated Communications in recognition of the chamber’s information and advocacy efforts regarding China’s Cybersecurity Law.

The award acknowledges the chamber’s successful “China’s Cyber Insecurity” campaign to both advocate on behalf of American businesses and to empower members with crucial compliance information both before and after passage of the law in 2016.

Aaron Kruse, content manager at AmCham China, collected the award at a ceremony held at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club in Hong Kong last night. The event was attended by senior communications practitioners from across the Asia-Pacific region and represented an enormous range of government bodies, corporations, and agencies.

“AmCham China is honored to receive the Gold Standard Award for our work to support American businesses in China,” said AmCham China President Alan Beebe. “The campaign was an essential component of the chamber’s strategy to raise awareness about concerns with legislation and the disproportionate burden on foreign companies, while also providing business leaders with timely information about how they may be affected.”

Public Affairs Asia’s Gold Standard Award is one of the most prestigious in the Asia-Pacific region and are hosted by Public Affairs Asia, a leading industry publication. The Integrated Communications award was one of the most fiercely-contested categories of this year’s contest, which also set a record with more than 300 entrants across a number of categories.

The award for Integrated Communications identifies excellence in the creative use of digital and social media channels as part of an integrated communications

strategy. Entrants were judged by the utilization of digital media, media relations, events, government relations, and advertising or paid media.

Earlier this year, AmCham China won the Large Chamber of Commerce Award at the APAC 2017 International Chambers of Commerce Awards. “The awards highlight the growing importance of AmCham China in the U.S.-China economic relationship and the value that the chamber provides to our members,” Beebe said.
