My candidacy for reelection as Vice Chairman of the Board of Governors of AmCham China is based on a continued desire to remain actively engaged in issues of concern to the American business and policy communities while seeking to contribute however possible to the broader development of healthy Sino-U.S. relations.  I hope once again to be part of a strong, passionate team of professionals looking to continually enhance the utility and effectiveness of the AmCham China platform to meet the interests of these key stakeholders.

I believe there is a strong role for AmCham China to play in helping define and shape U.S. policy objectives here, particularly during this period of economic and financial restructuring, and I will be active in ensuring that our role is carried out to the greatest benefit to our members and the community as a whole.  At the same time, I want to ensure that AmCham China continues to provide tailored assistance to a range of American businesses seeking to establish and broaden their successful China-based endeavors, particularly as I head an SME here, and will look to encourage a spirit of innovation and inclusiveness to make this happen.

My previous 28-year career in the U.S. Government, all Asia-focused and China-centric, provides a unique perspective that I believe also helps me serve most effectively in this role.
