I advocated for U.S. business for over 20 years during my career with the U.S. Department of Commerce, helping U.S. companies on policy issues across the spectrum of industries. Over the past year I brought that experience and passion to the AmCham membership through my work on the AmCham China Board of Governors.

This past year I co-chaired the U.S. Government Affairs Committee. We organized and executed AmCham China’s most successful and impressive Conference in Washington, highlighted by USTR Mike Froman’s policy speech, and filled start to finish with presentations by business and economic experts on China. The Conference, as well as our meetings with U.S. Government officials that week showcased AmCham China’s White Paper and the challenges member companies face.

On behalf of AmCham China I also met with numerous Chinese Government officials that can make the member’s lives easier (or harder if crossed), from the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, to the Deputy Administrator of Customs, to the Director General of AQSIQ. I also met with almost every U.S. Congressional member and staff delegation visiting China, making sure they understood problems dogging U.S. business in China. I also participated in efforts to recruit new members to the AmCham China fold.

Representing my fellow AmCham China members has been an honor for me over the past year – an honor I do not take lightly. I ask for your vote so that I can continue to contribute to AmCham China’s proactive advocacy on behalf of U.S. business, and help build an even stronger AmCham.
