I write from California where I am attending the inaugural US-China Climate Leaders Summit. Energy cooperation can serve as an important “anchor” in the relationship (some would argue there is no more important issue). As a long-term Beijing resident and an active member of the business community, I strive to be a constructive voice in promoting the development of my client’s energy projects and a strong advocate of bilateral cooperation in the energy sector. As the current Executive Committee Chair of the US China Energy Cooperation Program (ECP), during the past five years I have held various leadership positions in ECP working groups, joining ECP’s executive committee in 2014. My experience with ECP demonstrates that I possess the leadership skills to make a valuable contribution to the AmCham board.
If elected to the board of governors, my goals would be:
- To become an active and constructive leader with a keen focus on listening to our members and bringing my advocacy and consensus building skills to the benefit of the community
- To facilitate coordination and alignment between AmCham’s board and ECP’s executive committee for the benefit of both organizations
- To be a leading advocate with various departments of the US and Chinese governments on behalf of the business community and help promote energy cooperation and combat climate change, particularly in supporting efforts by smaller innovative companies in both countries
- To have fun and build professional and personal friendships in the community
