Last month, AmCham China hosted a Chinese Outbound Investment Workshop for a select audience of Chinese corporate representatives. The workshop focused on four sectors presented by our member companies: insurance by AON; human resources by Spencer Stuart, accounting by PwC and legal by Morgan, Lewis and Bockius.

Chinese Outbound Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) has increased dramatically over the last decade and last year, for the first time, surpassed the amount of incoming FDI. Chinese companies and executives are becoming experienced at understanding investments abroad but issues such as risk management, HR needs, accounting requirements and the general legal landscape are particularly challenging.

AmCham China organized this workshop exclusively for a Chinese audience and in Chinese in an effort to address this outbound trend, and to support AmCham China member companies who are involved in assisting Chinese businesses to reach their outbound investment goals. It is hoped – through the professionalism and quality of the presentations and the practical information made available – that AmCham China will become a helpful resource for those Chinese companies seeking knowledge about making investments abroad.

We thank AON, Spencer Stuart, PwC and Morgan Lewis for their effort in making the workshop a success, and we hope to build on this experience for future workshops.
