GOAL/MISSION

The F&B forum is AmCham’s one of the vigorous forums within the community.

The forum is advocacy focused and this year is the 3rd consecutive year for the forum to publish its standalone policy spotlight addressing the key industry issues. Members actively advocates on important laws and regulations and they were part of the Food Safety Law revision process and several of the inputs were incorporated in the revised law. They invited regulators to come and talk on major regulations that serve for larger group of AmCham members more than just F&B industry, such as Anti-Monopoly Law, Advertising Law, etc.  

Besides, 7 core member companies of the F&B forum initiated and supported a cooperation program between CFDA and AmCham China, to facilitate a science-based food safety supervision in China in 2014. It is the first public-private partnership established in the F&B sector and serving as a platform for Chinese regulators to have effective exchanges with the industry as well as their counterpart in the U.S. and EU. The program supported international seminars, local capacity building programs, comparison researches on future legislations, etc.

The forum is comprised of over 100 members covering the entire value chain of food & beverage industry, ranging from raw material providers (Cargill, ADM, LDC), manufacturers (Coca Cola, PepsiCo, Mars, MLDZ, Danone), food services providers (Starbucks, McDonalds), retailors (Wal-Mart), import/export traders (Hennessey), etc.

2017/2018 ACTIVITY PLAN

Share outcomes of the CFDA new Food Safety Law through the training program launched in May for local FDA officials from Shanghai, Jiangsu, Anhui and Zhejiang to exchange on regulatory updates and best commercial and technological practices.

GOVERNMENT ADVOCACY

  1. Completion of the research programs with the CFDA and Renmin University on Professional Claimants and Spot-checking.
  2. Ongoing advocacy activities in AQSIQ’s Measures for the Administration of Certificates Attached to Food Exports to China.
